Jailbreak

What is Jailbreak?

Apple is a big corporation. and all big corporations are different. When apple released it's iPhone, it made a big mistake. Unlike Windows or Android, they made it a very closed system, and we didn't notice it much until the App Store came out. What developers found out was that all the apps were going through a system where, if the apple Big-Shots didn't like it, it was not accepted. Simple as that.

The first Jailbreak was released in 2007, and people started realizing that their iDevices had a lot more potential than it was first made out to be.

Is it legal?

Yes. A new DMCA exemption was approved by the Library of Congress, specifically allowing jailbreaking.

Why should I Jailbreak?

There are tons of reasons.
Multitasking.folders.cracks.mods.themes.programs. etc. etc. etc.
Basically, anything that they wanted to do, they made it. Of course apple was outraged. A system that they had kept secret for years was being shown, one by one, to the public, and to all those developers, who's great ideas were rejected.

Don't Mess With Karma.

How do I Jailbreak?.
(let me remind you that this is only one method of jail-breaking, and might not work on iOs 4 or up. There are many other ways to do so and can be found here)
Step 1: Make sure your iPhone is backed up in iTunes, in case something goes wrong.
Step 2: From you iPhone, go to JailbreakMe.com.
Step 3: Slide to jailbreak.
Step 4: Sit back, relax. JailbreakMe will be downloaded to your iPhone and will work its magic. When done, a pop up will tell you that Cydia has been installed.
Step 5: Reboot your iPhone. You don’t have to, but it’s always a good thing to do.

What [bad things] will Jailbreak do to my phone?
Void it's warranty. It sounds worse than it is.
